Discover Community at the W.J. Henderson Community Centre

  • Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Legacy Space

    In July 2024, Loyalist Township proudly entered a 5-year agreement with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) to establish a Legacy Space within the newly renovated W.J. Henderson Recreation Centre. 

    The Legacy Space will include: 

    - Exhibits and educational displays 
    - Indigenous art and artifacts
    - Storytelling and language programming
    - Hands-on workshops and cultural events

  • Barr Homes Aquatic Centre

    On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Loyalist Township Council approved a naming rights agreement with Barr Homes in recognition of a significant contribution to the W.J. Henderson Revitalization Campaign. Under this agreement, the Aquatic Centre at the W.J. Henderson Community Centre will be officially named the Barr Homes Aquatic Centre.

    This Aquatic Centre will be a hub for learning, competition, and wellness—where kids gain confidence in the water, clubs compete, and residents stay active.

  • Amherstview, Lennox and Addington Library

    This Library is a welcoming space where children discover a love of reading, students learn and study, and community members connect through programs and shared learning.

  • The Brookland Homes Arena

    This ice arena will be a place where children learn to skate, teams practice and compete, and community members gather to stay active and connected.

  • Where Community Groups Gather

    A variety of clubs and organizations call the W.J. Henderson Home!

    - The Amherstview Jets
    - Ernestown Oldtimers Hockey Club
    - Greater Kingston Girls Hockey Association
    - Kingston Minor Ball Hockey
    - Loyalist Township Minor Hockey Association
    - TESHA (Township of Ernestown Senior Hockey Association)
    - Loyalist Skating Club

A revitalized and transformed W.J. Henderson community centre will also revitalize and transform our community of Loyalist Township: it will provide improved access to community and health programs, fostering connection in a time where we need it more than ever. It will prompt growth in our communities and attract new business and economic growth that we will all benefit from.
