Schedule

The construction schedule, found in Section 5 of the Validation Report, reviews the proposed construction schedule as well as major milestones which will need to be met to achieve a target construction completion date of Q3 2026. Timelines for the development of detailed construction documents, as well as the phasing approach which is being proposed to minimize disruptions to programming are presented.

Level 1

Level 2

  • Work on the existing building began in April 2024 and is expected to conclude in September 2025. This work includes:

    • Relocating the stairs between Levels 1 and 2

    • Eliminating the old pool change rooms to expand community spaces

    • Expanding the canteen

    • Renovating the ice surface and replacing the mechanical systems

    • Improving accessibility throughout the space

    The majority of the renovations took place between April and December 2024, at which time construction work was temporarily halted to accommodate the on-ice season. The ice was the removed on April 2, 2025 and construction activities resumed. Ongoing works include:

    • Demolishing the existing arena pad and replacing it with a new pad, boards, and glass

    • Replacing the existing mechanical systems, including ice making equipment and building-wide HVAC

    • Commissioning the elevator between levels 1 and 2

    • Addressing any deficiencies from the 2024 construction season.

     

    Work on this phase of the project will be completed in September 2025, with the first ice rental being scheduled for September 24th.

  • The old pool basin will be covered up and the space will be reused to improve our ability to deliver programming across the facility. The old deck-level space will be converted into change rooms for the new aquatic centre, administrative space, and a new wet classroom which will be accessible from the new aquatic centre!

    The deep end of the old pool will be converted to mechanical and storage spaces which will be used to house equipment that will heat and cool the whole facility.

    Work on this phase of the work will be completed in the fall of 2025.

  • Construction on the new aquatic centre began in April 2024 and is well underway. We are expecting to be fully open to the public in the third quarter of 2026.
